To determine:
Definition of term cell cycle, interphase, mitosis, cytokinesis, chromosome, chromatin.
Explanation of Solution
Cell cycle: It is the sequence of the events that takes place in the cells. It starts when the parent cell is completely divided to form new cell and end when the cell itself divided into daughter cells.
Interphase: It is the first phase of the cell cycle, it is the first phase, in which the cells grow and prepare for the division. It is the resting phase of the cells.
Mitosis: It is defined as the division of the somatic cells to form two new daughter cells. In mitosis, one cell divides into two genetically identical cells having equal number of chromosome as the parent cell.
Cytokinesis: Cytokinesis is the step after the division of nucleus in which cytoplasm of the parent cells is divided into daughter cells resulting in complete division of the cell into two.
Chromosome: The DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the genetic material of all the living organisms present on earth. The chromosomes are condensed thread-like structure of the DNA, which contains the genes of the organisms.
Chromatin: The chromosomes are made up of chromatin. It can be described as a material made up of DNA, RNA and proteins in eukaryotes.
