The mechanism by which cytotoxic T cells attack the target cells.

Introduction:

T cells are produced from hematopoietic stem cells in bone marrow akin to B cells but they later migrate to the thymus gland for maturation. During maturation, they develop one of two sets of surface proteins, CD4 or CD8. These proteins determine what type of T cell fate they will acquire. CD4 T cells give rise to helper and memory cells while CD8 T cells give rise to cytotoxic cells and suppressor cells.
