Polarizability is the measure with which an electron cloud can be distorted by charges on neighboring species and is greatest for the electron-rich, heavier atoms of a group.
Polarizability of atoms tends to decreases from left to right across a period and increases down a group.

Polarizability of atoms tends to decreases from left to right across a period and increases down a group.
Carbon and germanium belongs to group 14, aluminium belongs to group 13.
The number of electrons in carbon is six.
The number of electrons in aluminum is twelve.
The number of electrons in germanium is thirty-two.
The greater the numbers of electrons, the less control the nuclear charge on distribution of charges, and thus the increased polarizability of the atom.
Therefore, Germanium will have the greatest polarizability compared to carbon and aluminum.
