The oxide
Concept Introduction:
All the main group elements except noble gas react with oxygen. Soluble ionic oxides are found on the left of the periodic table. Molecular oxides are found on the right side of the periodic table.
Metallic elements with low ionization energy form basic ionic oxides.
Elements with intermediate ionization energies form amphoteric oxides.
The general pattern of oxides is,
