Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The names of the elementary step under each arrow occurring in Equation 8-2 are to be written.

Concept introduction:

In heterolysis step, the bond between the carbon and the leaving group, CL, is broken the bonding electrons go with the leaving group, forming carbocation and the L.

The coordination reaction is the Lewis acid-base reaction. A Lewis acid is an electron-pair acceptor, having an atom that lacks an octet. The species which donates electron pair is a Lewis base. In a coordination step, the single curved arrow drawn indicates the flow of electrons from an electron-rich site to an electron-poor site.
