To contrast:
The enzymes present in the virions of the retrovirus and a positive-strand RNA bacteriophage. Why they differ if each has plus configuration single-stranded RNA as its genome.
Introduction:
All the viruses contain either DNA or RNA as its genetic material. It is further subdivided on the basis of which the genome is double-stranded or single-stranded. The viral genome can occur either in the linear or circular form. In terms of the base sequences, the viral genome may also occur in the form of either minus or plus sense. The positive configuration of the viral genome contains the same base sequences as that of the mRNA of the virus. The negative configuration possesses the complementary base sequences to the viral mRNA.
