Joints are formed by the articulation of the surfaces of two or more bones that are supported by cartilage, synovial membrane, ligaments, tendons, synovial fluids, bursa and meniscus. The extended part and a pocket of the synovial membrane are called bursa. It is the extended part of the joint cavity which grows furthermost to form a sac and it protects the bones from friction.
