Chapter 8, Problem 10MC
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

DNA microarray is composed of single-stranded DNA molecules (ssDNA) as cDNA or genomic DNA, which are attached to the solid substrate, such as glass slide, a nylon membrane, or silicon chips. It is also called DNA chip as it contains a collection of thousands of various DNA molecules at a specific site on the array. The single array may contain DNA molecule from one or more species. The fluorescent ssDNA molecules are used as labels, which bind to their complementary sequence of DNA on the array. This technique is used to find DNA or RNA in a sample and to evaluate the expression of genes.
