Summary Introduction
Among bacteria, the genus Clostridium and Bacillus are well known for the formation of endospore. Such spores are referred to as endospores. The endospores are formed inside the (mother) bacterial cell. The bacterial cell divides asymmetrically during the sporulation process, resulting in two cells of different size. The smaller cell grows into an endospore that is enclosed by the larger mother cell. When the development is complete, the larger cell bursts, releasing the spore.
