Concept introduction:

The final step of cellular respiration is oxidative phosphorylation which synthesizes ATP. It is happens in two steps: electron transport chain (ETC) and chemiosmosis. The inner membrane of mitochondria has five complexes embedded in it. The first four are involved in the ETC and the final one, ATP synthase, does the chemiosmotic synthesis of ATP.
