Case summary:
A group of workers are responsible for making hotplates. They manufactured different types of hotplates. Each worker is answerable for assembling a small part of the hotplate. The assembly line is carefully broken down into smaller subtasks.
The morale was low and the management proposed to make the entire hotplates individually by each worker. The productivity increased, rejections decreased and the employee absenteeism dropped. Employees became more engaged in the work than before.
