Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites that invade and infect host cells. They use their host’s cellular and genetic machinery to multiply and lyse it in order to infect new host cells.

The adaptations of viruses that don’t immediately kill their host cell and their possible functions.

Introduction:

Viruses are unique micro-organisms because they don’t show any signs of life until they come in contact with their host cells. Once they invade the host cell, they take over its cellular machinery and use it to synthesize more viral particles that are assembled and released from the host cell to invade new cells. Some viruses stay inactive even after entering their host cells.
