Summary Introduction

The reactants to which an enzyme acts on is referred to as a substrate of the enzyme. The binding of the enzyme to its substrates results in the forming of the enzyme-substrate complex. The substrate is then converted into a product by the catalytic activity of the enzyme. The reaction catalyzed by the enzyme is found to be very specific to its substrates. The substrate specificity of the enzymes relies on its molecular recognition site.
