Introduction: QTL stands for quantitative trait loci. QTL mapping gave researchers hope to find out alleles, which were common in increasing the risk for genetic diseases. In QTL mapping, a genetic map is made to find out a significant correlation that makes it evident that the quantitative trait loci affecting the trait causing the genetic disorder lies on the chromosome near the genetic marker. The research conducted for QTL mapping for human genetic disorders has highlighted that disease-causing alleles are rare. It has also shown that disease-causing alleles have very small effects on the risk that an individual will develop that disease.
