Introduction:
Transport of molecules inside the membrane can be due to expenditure of energy while some are transported on the basis of the concentration gradient. The substances pass through the membrane on the basis of their polar and nonpolar nature. Polar molecules that are very small in size can only pass through the membrane, while gases can diffuse easily inside the membrane. Nonpolar molecules can easily pass through the membrane.
