Introduction:

Diffusion is a process of transport of molecules from regions of higher concentration to lower concentration. It takes place in liquids and gases as the particles are in a state of random movement. The process of diffusion does not require expenditure of energy. The plasma membrane exhibits different permeabilities toward various molecules.
