In these exercises assume that the object is moving with constant acceleration in the positive direction of a coordinate line, and apply Formulas $\left(10\right)$ and $\left(11\right)$ as appropriate. In some of these problems you will need the fact that $88\text{ ft/s}=60\text{ mi/h}$ .

A car that has stopped at a toll booth leaves the booth with a constant acceleration of $4{\text{ ft/s}}^{\text{2}}$ . At the time the car leaves the booth it is $2500\text{ ft}$ behind a truck traveling with a constant velocity of $50\text{ ft/s}$ . How long will it take for the car to catch the truck, and how far will the car be from the toll booth at that time?
