Explanation Sweat glands are the glands present in the skin that secrete a water-like substance known as sweat. Sweat glands are of four types, namely, eccrine, apocrine, ceruminous, and mammary. All these glands have slightly different structures and functions. Eccrine glands are the most prevalent type of sweat glands found in the skin. These glands are located in the dermis. They are made up of tubules packed in the shape of coil. Their secretion is in the form of sweat. The sweat is made up of 99% water and some solutes like sodium, potassium, chlorides, and waste products like lactic acid. The sweat formed in these glands is transferred to the surface of the skin via a duct, known as the sweat duct. This duct opens at the pore in the skin known as the sweat pore.
