A positive correlation has been observed between forest fragmentation and incidence of Lyme disease by the researchers. Forest fragmentation is the process of division of large habitats into smaller, divided, and isolated fragmented areas. The theory of island biogeography states that the large habitat areas, such as non-fragmented forests, are rich in species.
