Chapter 51.2, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction

To determine: The positioning of an object during laboratory testing in order to analyze, whether the insect can reach back at the same place, where a demarcation boundary was created.

Concept introduction: This experiment is based on the “theory of spatial recognition” and the development of“cognitive maps” by insects. It was developed and studied by Niko Tinbergen in “The Netherlands”. The analysis revealed that the insect wasps recognized the developmental boundaries around the nests by forming images in the memory.
