Explanation of Solution

Given:

Population of town is 100000 .

Calculation:

Assume the following;

  • Municipal waste generation is 4.5lb/person/day .
  • The pickers can salvage 1000lb/hour/person .
  • Working time is 8hour/day .
  • Rate of picking is $10perhour .

Write the expression to calculate the manpower.

  M=P×qph×t   ...... (I)

Here, the manpower required is M , the population is P , the solid waste production per capita per day is q and the handpicking rate is ph .

Substitute, 100000person for P , 4.5lb/person/day for q , 1000lb/hour/person for ph and 8hour/day for t in Equation (I).

  M=(100000person)×(4.5lb/person/day)(1000lb/hour/person)×(8hour/day)=(4500008000)person=56.25person57person

Write the expression to calculate the required cost.

  C=M×t×s   ...... (II)

Here, the cost for manpower per day is C and the hourly salary rate is s .

Substitute 57person for M , 8hour/day for t and $10perhour in Equation (II).

  C=(57person)×(8hour/day)×($10perhour)=$4560perday

Conclusion:

Thus, the number of personnel required are 57person .

The cost required is $4560perday .

The major problem of this proposal is that it has significant effects on the health of manpower.

The solid waste contains volatile compounds that can be absorbed by the body.

Consider the following static route choice problem where 110 vehicles travel from point A to point B. The corresponding travel time (in minutes) of each link is as follows: t₁ = x1 ; t₂ = = x2 + 20; t3 = x3 + 10; t₁ = 3x4 where Xi denotes the number of vehicles that choose link i. Find the number of vehicles that travel on each link when a. The user equilibrium condition (UE) is satisfied, where vehicles select the route with the minimum travel time; and b. The system optimum condition (SO) is satisfied, where the total travel time is minimised. C. Report the total delay savings when satisfying SO instead of UE. 2 A B 3 4
= Assume an origin is connected to a destination with two routes. Assume the travel time of each route has a linear relationship with the traffic flow on the route (t₁ = α₁ + b₁×₁ ; t₂ b2x2). Determine under what condition (e.g. a relationship among the parameters of the performance functions) tolling cannot reduce the total travel time of the two routes. a2+
