Summary Introduction
Introduction:
IP3 and DAG are secondary messengers. Some protein hormones (vasopressin, TSH) and neurotransmitters (GABA) bind to GPCRs to induce signal transduction pathway. This leads to the activation of intracellular enzyme phospholipase C (PLC). PLC hydrolyzes the phospholipid phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2). Hydrolysis of PIP2 results in the synthesis of two secondary messengers IP3 and DAG.
