Question
Chapter 47.1, Problem 2LO
Summary Introduction
To explain: The Frick’s Law of Diffusion.
Introduction: The gases diffuse into the aqueous layer converting the epithelial cells that line the respiratory organs in the vertebrates. The process of diffusion is passive, only driven by the difference in concentration of carbon dioxide and oxygen on the two-sided of the membranes and their relative solubility’s in the plasma membrane.

- Two students are discussing the effect of concentration gradient on diffusion. Student A says, “The higher the concentration gradient, the slower the rate of diffusion.“ But student B thinks the opposite. Who is correct?arrow_forwardOn what direction of diffusion depends upon?arrow_forwardUsually , rates of diffusion vary inversely with molecular weights; so smaller molecules diffuse faster than do larger ones. In cells, however, calcium ion diffuses more slowly than does cAMP. Propose a possible explanation.arrow_forward
- Acclimatizations are usually reversible. Explain with an example?arrow_forwardI believe I use the diffusion law on this: (Diffusion Constant × ∆Concentration × Area) / Thickness. Then change the constant into micrometers (x10^-12). Maybe use the fact that oxygen = 16 grams/mol. Am I on the right track?
