Here's the question: "Do we know all the essential nutrients (for humans)
including the amounts required by humans for healthy nutrition?" What do you
think? What is the evidence? What is the difference between "essential
nutrients" and "RDI amounts of essential nutrients"? If you were a research
scientist how would you prove your hypothesis? We are not asking about
"foods" but rather "essential nutrients" - there's a difference!. We are not
talking about "therapeutic nutrition" but rather "normal nutrition"
"Science doesn't know everything" is not a good answer. "New foods will be
discovered" is not a good answer. Your answer should not include herbal
medications or drugs or answers like "who knows what we may discover in the
future?" or anything about possible discoveries in the Amazonian rain forest!
You may want to look up "Total Parenteral Nutrition" and see what is currently
being done in clinical nutrition based on current knowledge - does that help
you answer the question? For…

A typical adult ingests about 2200 food calories per day. (A) show that an adult uses energy at about the same rate as a 100-W light bulb. {B) Calculate the total annual metabolic energy expenditure of the 6 X 109 people on the earth and compare it with the 4 X 1020 J per year energy used by the world economy. Recall that an inference is based on observations and previous knowledge. An inference is not data, but it should be consistent with the data. Recall that pH can affect the function of enzymes. A scientist was studying the digestive system of alligators. Alligators have very acidic stomachs, but their intestines are closer to neutral. The scientist identified two important enzymes in the digestive tract of alligators W-protease and T-protease. She conducted an investigation into how a change in pH affected the activity of each enzyme. At the conclusion of the investigation, she presented her findings in the line graph shown.... Digestive Enzyme Activity Tan-protease --- Wx-protease 4 6 10 12 pH Based on these data and your knowledge of enzymes, what inferences can you draw about which enzyme is most likely to be active in the alligator intestine and which is most likely to be active in the stomach?
