Chapter 45, Problem 13PIAT
Summary Introduction
To review:
The effect of training for a marathon on the number of muscle cells in the gastrocnemius.
Introduction:
Gastrocnemius is the muscle that forms the half of the calf muscles present on the back of the lower leg. The muscle fiber is a thin and long muscle cell. The muscle cell contains myofibrils that consist of repeated units of sarcomeres (alternating dark-light units). Regular workout results in the increase in overall length of sarcomeres.
