Chapter 44.3, Problem 1CYL
Summary Introduction

To describe:

The development of a flower into fruit and seeds.

Introduction:

Fruits are basically planted structures that possess seeds and are formed from an ovary. Generally, fruits mean fleshy structures containing seeds. These can be eaten in their raw state. The outer layer of the fruits is known as the pericarp. Pericarp contains three layers; epicarp, mesocarp, and endocarp.

Summary Introduction

To differentiate:

Between monocot and dicot seeds.

Introduction:

A seed is defined as an embryonic plant, which is enclosed within a protective covering (seed coat). New plants germinate from the seeds and thus, seeds are an essential part of the reproductive process of plants.  Plants that produce seeds are called phanerogams. A seed can either be a monocot or a dicot on the basis of the presence of cotyledons.
