School spirit. Your dorm bathroom is tiled using white hexagonal tiles arranged in a honeycomb pattern (see the middle figure associated with Mindscape 2). One weekend, you and your roommates decide to replace all the white tiles with purple and gold tiles in honor of your school colors, with some green tiles thrown in as accents. (One of your roommates is from New Orleans.) You need a total of 7200 tiles. You want three times as many gold tiles as green tiles, and 1200 more purple tiles than twice the number of green tiles. How many tiles of each color do you need?

You are going to use part of that wall to enclose a rectangle and separate it into three pens as shown below. You have $6720 to spend on fencing to enclose this rectangular area. You also want to make THREE pens as shown below. You are also using the wall as one horizontal side of the area so you do NOT need to provide fencing on that side. The cost of the outside fencing (in purple) is Ş4.00 per foot and the two vertical fences inside the pen (in green) costs $7.00 per foot. You desire to enclose the largest possible area you can. What is the largest total area you can enclose? Do NOT use calculus to solve this problem.
