Introduction:

The sodium ion channels are present on the plasma membrane of the neuron. These channels make sure that sodium can enter the axon of a neuron through them. They also maintain the different concentration of sodium solution on both sides of the neuron, that is, outside of the neuron has a higher concentration of sodium ions than that of the inside.
