Chapter 39, Problem 16TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The propagation of action potential through nerve is evolved only once, according to a biologist. Find evidence that either supports or refutes that hypothesis.

Introduction:

The nerve impulse or action potential is generated in the neurons. An action potential is nothing but an electrical impulse. This electrical impulse generates due to the presence of voltage-gated ion channels on the plasma membrane of the neurons and presence of different concentrations of ions (sodium, potassium, calcium) in both sides of the neurons.

the course of evolution whales and sharks optimized their movements by forming a tail fluke (or tail fin) to propel the animal forward. But the direction of the propelling movements did not matter: a whale’s fluke moves vertically, and a shark’s fin moves horizontally. Either way the goal to propel the animal forward is achieved. (A) To which aspect of optimal feedback control is that related? B) Please give an example of how this can be shown experimentally and elaborate.
Compared and Contrast the muscular system, the nervous system, the cardiac system, the digestive system and endocrine system of a sheep to a Florida Mantee same body systems.
Consider Lamarck’s idea in a hypothetical situation. For example, you decided that when you have children, you want them to be big ang strong. You decided to go to the gym every day for a year. You did all your exercise routines diligently and you were able to develop really bulky and toned muscles because you believed that your kids would inherit your big impressive muscles. Do you think this would work? Justify your answer using the concepts you have learned from Genetics, as well as Darwin’s concept of evolution.
