Laser light of wavelength 632.8 nm falls normally on a slit that is 0.0250 mm wide. The transmitted light is viewed on a distant screen where the intensity at the center of the central bright fringe is 8.50 W/m2. (a) Find the maximum number of totally dark fringes on the screen, assuming the screen is large enough to show them all. (b) At what angle does the dark fringe that is most distant from the center occur? (c) What is the maximum intensity of the bright fringe that occurs immediately before the dark fringe in part (b)? Approximate the angle at which this fringe occurs by assuming it is midway between the angles to the dark fringes on either side of it.

How far from the center of the pattern are the centers of the first and second dark fringes?arrow_forwardWhy is it much more difficult to see interference fringes for light reflected from a thick piece of glass than from a thin film? Would it be easier if monochromatic light were used?arrow_forwardWhen a monochromatic light of wavelength 430 nm incident on a double slit of slit separation 5 m, there are 11 interference fringes in its central maximum. How many interference fringes will be in the central maximum of a light of wavelength 632.8 nm for the same double slit?arrow_forward

- For 600-nm wavelength light and a slit separation of 0.12 mm, what are the angular positions of the first and third maxima in the double slit interference pattern?arrow_forwardIn Young’s double slit experiment, red light with wavelength = 633 nm strikes a double slit where the separation between the slits is 0.580 mm. Interference fringes are formed on a screen which is placed at a distance of 1.20 m from the slits.(a) Calculate the fringe with. - Red Light with wave length 600nm coming from a He-Ne laser, passes through a 0.3mm wide slit. The reflection image is observed on a plate placed at a distance of 4m. Defining as a range of a bright fringe the distance between the dark sides on both sides, calculate: (a)The range of the central bright fringe.
