To state: the conclusion based on given reasoning

Answer to Problem 11WE
No conclusion can be drawn
Explanation of Solution
Given information: the following two statements are given:
Va is older than G
Da is older than G
Now Va is older than G and Da is older than G.
Case 1:
Let Va’s age be 10 years, G’s age be 8 years and Da’s age be 9 years.
In this case it can be observed that Va is older than G and Da is older than G such that Va is older than Da
Case 2:
Let Va’s age be 9 years, G’s age be 8 years and Da’s age be 10 years.
In this case it can be observed that Valerie is older than G and Da is older than G such that Da is older than Valerie.
From case 1 and case 2, it can be observed that either Va is older than Da or Dan is older than Valerie.
Therefore, no conclusion can be drawn.

Mary reasoned that she could draw a rectangle around the figure so that the point O was at a vertex of the rectangle and that points A and B were on sides of the rectangle. Then she reasoned that the three smaller triangles resulting could be subtracted from the area of the rectangle. Mary determined that she would need 28 square meters of artificial turf to cover the green shaded yard space pictured exactly.arrow_forward
