Keratin and melanin both are important for the skin but both of them have different roles as keratin is tough that keeps the skin nice and melanin helps protect the skin from radiation.

Explanation of Solution

Keratin is a protein that forms hair and nails. Melanin is a group of naturally occurring dark pigments that are found in skin, hair, fur and feathers.

Keratinocytes produce a protein known as keratin which is a very important part of the epidermis cells. Melanocytes form the skin pigment that is known as melanin.

Keratin is a protein while melanin is a group of naturally occurring dark pigments.
