Concept Introduction:

• A young adult female requires 2100 cal/day. The basal caloric requirement is 1300 cal/day.
• Basal caloric requirement is the energy required by a resting person. Total caloric requirement is the energy required by a resting person + the energy required for various activities of an active person.
