Long chain polymers are made up by joining mers through various polymerization processes. In this context, if only single kind of mer is used then the compound is known as homo-polymer. If two different mers are used, then it is known as copolymer. An example of copolymer is styrene acrylonitrile where two kinds of mers are present that are styrene and acrylonitrile. If three different mers are used, then it is known asterpolymer. An example of terpolymer is acrylic styrene acrylonitrile where three kinds of mers are present.
