Geneticists did not agree with the belief that European explorers were the reason for blonde hair. They believed that TYPR1 (tyrosine related protein 1) gene and malfunctioning of melanin protein is responsible for the same. If blonde hair were due to European explorers, then the researchers would have heterozygous population having recessive genes for black hair. These heterozygous populations will produce recessive blonde hair gene.
The researchers would have found recessive black hair gene in heterozygous population.
