Chapter 29.2, Problem 2C
Summary Introduction

To draw: A generalized life cycle of a fungus including asexual and sexual reproduction as well as the haploid, diploid, and dikaryotic stage.

Introduction: Fungi reproduce by producing spores. This can be done either asexually or sexually. Spores are the reproducing body of the fungi that develop into a new organism. Asexual reproduction occurs by budding. Sexual reproduction takes place by fusion of haploid nuclei, where the cytoplasm from two different fungi comes together.

Explain the generalized life cycle of Fungi.  need to include the following terms appropriately: Mycelium, haploid, diploid, karyogamy, spores, zygote, mitosis and meiosis, and germination.
Briefly explain two ways how ectomycorrhizal fungi affect their hosts
Relate plasmogamy and karyogamy to the process of fertilization and describe whey we need to separate these two things in the life cycle of the fungi. Differentiate between the monokaryotic and dikaryotic conditions. Compare and contrast an animal life cycle with that of a typical mushroom including the haplophase, dikaryophase, and diplophase, products of meiosis, plasmogamy, and karyogamy.
