Concept introduction:

The process of development does not stop after the delivery. A newborn has only few physiological and anatomical characteristic similar to an adult. A newborn acquire different anatomical characteristics and abilities during its postnatal development.

The postnatal stages of the development include neonatal period, infancy, childhood, adolescence and maturity.
