Concept explainers
To Explain: The bulb appears to be pale orange or red, white light scattered to the side appears blue when few drops of milk is added to water and observed under incandescent light.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The molecules of milk collide with the light when the light is passed through the glass containing milk drop.
An incandescent lamp generates continuous spectrum of light so when the molecules of milk scatter the light then the light having shorter wavelength is scattered the most and the blue color has the shorter wavelength so it is scattered most.
Conclusion:
At the time of sunset, the incandescent bulb appears to be red or pale orange and when it passes through milky water then the blue light scattered most due to shortest wavelength
