The colors that are opposite to each other on the color wheel are known as complementary colors. The complementary color scheme is used to create style and appeal.
Complimentary colors are also called as opposite colors. It is based on color theory. Complimentary colors are the pairs of colors that are combined or mixed, cancel each other produces the grayscale or white. If they placed one another then they create the strongest contrast of those two colors.
The modern color theory RGB additive color or CMY subtractive color are more popular and, in these colors, schemes the complementary pairs are red-cyan, green-magenta and blue-yellow
