After birth, all the systems in the infant grow rapidly, but the cardiovascular system grows the fastest. This system undergoes major changes between the pre- and post-natal stages. Duringprenatal stages, typical circulatory shortcuts called vascular shuts develop that facilitates blood circulation in the developing fetus.
