Influenza virus belongs to class V that contains minus single stranded segmented RNA as their genetic material. They are enveloped virus that contains an antigen on their envelope. Influenza virus is the causative agent of flu. They have ability to change their surface antigens by forming a new combination of antigen (mixture of antigen) through the process called as antigenic shift and they also mutate their antigen genes to form new surface antigen. This process is known as antigenic drift
