The Paleozoic era is subdivided into six periods: Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous and Permian. The Mesozoic era is divided into three periods, namely the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. The Cenozoic era is divided into two periods, Tertiary and Quaternary.
