Summary Introduction

To review:

The importance of learning about rabies even in areas like the United States with less susceptibility and a few numbers of cases.

Introduction:

Rabies is a deadly zoonotic disease found normally in animals. It is caused by the rabies virus, which belongs to the family of single-stranded RNA (ribonucleic acid) viruses known rhabdovirus. Pathogenesis occurs after the entry of the rabies virus into the body by a bite from an infected animal. The virus then localizes towardthe brain and spinal cord and starts to multiply rapidly. This results in severe abnormalities of the central nervous system (CNS).

One of the ways for a cell to generate ATP is through the oxidative phosphorylation. In oxidative phosphorylation 3 ATP are produced from every one NADH molecule. In respiration, every glucose molecule produces 10 NADH molecules. If a cell is growing on 5 glucose molecules, how much ATP can be produced using oxidative phosphorylation/aerobic respiration?
