Introduction:
Teleogryllus commodus is a native species of Australia. They are commonly known as black field cricket. They are characterized by long, thin antennae, wings, chewing mouthparts, and legs adapted for jumping. The male crickets produce advertisement calls which attract the females towards them for reproduction. These calls also determine the fitness of males. In the given experiment, researchers produced artificial calls to females to measure the selection for male calls. The length of pause and number of trills for each call was altered so that they can plot a positive selection curve as a function of call characteristics.
