Electrolytes are the substances that play a significant role in many functions like maintaining the balance of body fluids, transportation, shock absorber and many other functions. They are in form of mineral ions. They facilitate the opening and closing of various ions gated protein channels in the membranes of all cells. They also help in the conduction of electricity in the nerve cells.
