Summary Introduction
The sebaceous gland system is present in the skin and is involved in the production of a waxy substance called sebum. Sebum is an oily substance which is made up of triglycerides, fatty acids, wax, ester, and cholesterol. The function of sebum is to provide moisturization to the skin and hair. The major areas on the skin that consist the presence of sebaceous glands are: side of nose, back of scalp, and upper chest.
