Alloys are created from a mixture of two or more metals. Ceramics are solids made from dried clay or other similar materials.
Differences between alloys and ceramics are:
- Alloys are created from a mixture of two or more metals. For example: Brass is created by combining copper and zinc. Ceramics are solids made from clay, feldspar or silica.
- Alloys are manufactured by combining two or more metals in the liquid form and cooling them after. Ceramics are manufactured by heating the raw materials at very high temperatures.
- Alloys are not brittle, that is, they do not break when dropped. Ceramics can be brittle, that is, they can break if dropped.
Conclusion:
Both alloys and ceramics have been used since ancient times.
