TV-reception antennas for VHF are constructed with cross wires supported at their centers, as shown in Figure 24.27. The ideal length for the cross wires is one-half the wavelength to he received, with the more expensive antennas having one for each channel. Suppose you measure the lengths of the wires for particular channels and find them to be 1.94 and 0.753 m long, respectively. What are the frequencies for these channels?
Figure 24.27 A television reception antenna has cross wires of various lengths to most efficiently receive different wavelengths.

- A friend buys a used pickup truck that comes complete with a CB radio. However, the antenna is broken off, and your friend asks you to help make one out of a steel rod that he will affix to the rear bumper. You know that the frequency is 27.7 MHz and that the antenna must be a quarter-wavelength long. How long should you make the rod? Description Two parallel wires of length 0.5 m and separation of 0.1 mm carry equal and opposite currents (differential mode) of 100 mA at 100 MHz. An antenna with an antenna factor of 20 dB at 100 MHz is used to measure the emissions in an FCC Class B test. If the antenna is parallel to and in the plane of the wires, determine the voltage measured by a spectrum analyzer attached to the antenna.
