To determine: Some of the criteria and tools that biologists might use to assign the different types of protists to monophyletic groups.

Introduction: Previous classification considers three different types of taxonomic relationships that are shown in a cladogram. These different types of taxonomic relationships are paraphyletic groups, monophyletic groups, and polyphyletic groups.
