Question
Chapter 22.4, Problem 2CC
Summary Introduction
Sulfate or sulfur reducing bacteria (SRB) during anaerobic respiration utilizes sulfate or elemental sulfur as a terminal electron acceptor and reduces it to hydrogen sulfide. They also reduce other oxidized sulfur compounds like thiosulfate, tetrathionate, sulfite, and others. The order Desulfovibrionales, Desulfuromonadales, and Desulfobacterales contain sulfate or sulfur reducing bacteria (SRB).
